Alexandra Farrar is a Yoga Alliance certified yoga instructor, reiki practitioner in Usui Shiki Ryoho, and an International Association of Yoga Therapist (IAYT) in-training. A San Diego native living in Reno, Nevada, Alexandra grew up as a competitive dancer, cheerleader and gymnast, and has always found her greatest moments in life are when she is connecting to the body through movement. She was diagnosed at a young age with scoliosis and immediately discovered an interest in human anatomy and physiology, while being exposed to the reality of chronic pain.
She began her yoga practice ten years ago when she found a studio to call home and begin her spiritual journey of healing. Through her trainings, she has studied hours of yogic philosophy, anatomy and physiology, principles of alignment and asanas, meditation techniques, pranayama, chakras and energy work, hands-on spotting and adjustments, the history of reiki and its spiritual principles. She is an instructor at The Traveling Yoga Studio, teaching online group Vinyasa yoga classes, is a facilitator for teacher trainings, and is the community leader for the studio. She teaches one-on-one private sessions both in person and online for individuals, groups and corporate teams. Alexandra joined the YogaSix Reno Northwest Team and will be teaching hot and power yoga at the studio starting in December 2021.
As a yoga therapist in training, Alexandra works with clients one-on-one to create personalized yoga treatment plans as a holistic mind, body, spirit modality tailored to their specific goals and needs. After completing the program, Alexandra will be a Certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT) with over 1300 training hours, and a 500-hour registered yoga teacher, graduating from the Soul of Yoga Institute in Southern California.
She has in-depth experience in coaching and teaching, and received her Bachelor’s degree in Health, Science and Technology from The University of Arizona. She received her minor in Sports Management, interned forArizona Athletics, as well as at a sports medicine office specializing in orthopedics and physical therapy. She also volunteered for InterFACE International Surgical Group, where she traveled to remote areas of Mexico to offer pro bono reconstructive surgery to children.

What is my why?
When you find something that you really love, that makes you feel joy and inspiration even when you’re feeling pain, sadness and loss, something that can take you to a space filled with more love, compassion and kindness – then I believe you should share that space with others. What the yoga practice has done for me to balance the impermanence and unpredictability of life – then maybe it can do that for others too.
If I can touch one person, for even just one minute - through body movement and meditation, and provide them with a space to feel seen at their true level of existence – that’s purpose.
